SHE CAME HOME DRUNK

she came home drunk,

again last night,

her father smelled it in her breath,

scolded her for it,

beat her for it,

and asked her the reason for it,

she didnt have any,

afterall,

how could she say,

that she simply loved,

what the drunkeness did to her,

that it gave her something,

which no one could give,

not even her father,

standing in front of her,

screaming out abuses at her,

for this sinful act of hers,

how could she say,

that she loved the way it made her head and her world spin around,

how could she say,

that it allowed her an escape from the demons that tortured her from the inside,

demons who possessed her in the form of her thoughts,

thoughts, which pushed her against the wall,

each day and every day,

one fact she knew,

that if not anything,

then the drunkeness allowed her to live her life,

if only temporarily,

but nothing is permanent,

and she wanted to live her life,

if only temporarily,

cos she was tired of just existing through it,

her father didnt understand all this,

saw her as she was,

from the outside,

from the outside,

where she covered herself in an invisible cloak,

to protect her battered inside,

from the pitiful glances of the wide wide world…
